Find Your Inner Shakti Spread:

This seven card spread has one question for each of the chakras. Whether you are familiar with chakra psychology or you are new to this kind of medicine, the questions in the guidebook will inspire your own self-study. Here is a reading just for you:

1. MULADHARA (Root Chakra): How can I ground myself? DRUM

Drumming is a universal sacred practice; it is an invitation to connect your pulse with that of the earth. This is a time to stop and feel with your heart. All those issues connected with family, with your sense of belonging yet wanting to burst free from the ties that bind are ready for some sacred medicine. Go into the forest today alone - no iPod, no dog, just you and Mother Nature. Either find a quiet place to sit and find your heartbeat or find your pulse in your steps. Maybe you'll walk slowly, perhaps you'll want to skip, just move to your own drum. It's time to trust and find joy in your own unique beat.

2. SVADHISTHANA (Sacral Chakra): How can I allow my passion and creativity to flow? SAHASRARA (Crown Chakra) The connection to sahasrara is a journey of lifetimes. If you are reading this blog, you have been actively working on your spirituality. Once you find the rhythm of your own drum, it will be easier to find joy and give yourself permission to live an uncompromising life full of passion, creativity and beauty. One will support the other. The sahasrara card in this position is about connecting your joy, your creativity, to the divine. It's about surrendering to the divine and allowing the magic to flow. How are you supposed to do that? Well, for one, stop struggling. Take your divinity out of the closet. Don't be afraid to let the world know you are a spiritual person.

3. MANIPURA (Solar Plexus Chakra): What will help me find my inner strength? HANUMAN

Did you read yesterday's blog? If not, scroll through "My favourite cards to HANUMAN". Hanuman is a symbol of pure devotion among the pantheon of deities in India. In the Ramayana, an ancient Indian epic poem, Hanuman is a devotee of Prince Rama. He is a model for learning how to get out of your own way and live beyond ego. The main lesson of the 3rd chakra is truly understanding how to "let thy will be done". If you are wrestling on a daily basis with your story, you are so enmeshed in ego that purification of the this chakra is going to take a lot of work. The theme for this reading seems to be: trust yourSELF and march to your own drum, find a connection to the divine to inspire your creativity and then amp up your spiritual practice enough so you can step out of your story and away from the chains of ego. You will find your inner strength in letting go.

4. ANAHATA (Heart Chakra): How can I tune into my heart space? CHAI

This is so beautiful. Next step: connect with like-minded people. Share a cup of tea or coffee and find sacred communion in its simplicity. The heart space will be healed when you realize unconditional love in every being and every experience.

5. VISHUDDHI (Throat Chakra): What can assist me in speaking my truth? SVADHISTHANA

This is such a perfect reading - exactly what you needed to hear. Svadhisthana (2nd chakra) is mirrored in the throat chakra. So scroll back up and reread #2. It is time to speak your truth, to let your friends and family know that you are a spiritual being having a human experience so that you can grow and evolve. What can assist you in speaking your truth is expressing your divinity in your creativity or your passion.

6. AJNA (Third-Eye Chakra): What do I currently not see? WANING MOON

Well, no you don't see a waning moon because we are in a waxing moon phase now but pulling this card is about embracing the energy of the waning moon. This is a time for rest and integration. This spiritual connection you are trying to build and remain connected to takes a lot of energy. This is not a time for worldly projects or social gatherings. Close you eyes, take your inner gaze to your eyebrow centre and pause. Soften your skin and find your breath.

7. SAHASRARA (Crown Chakra): How can I strengthen my connection to the Divine? TURTLE

Have you read the children's book Old Turtle and the Broken Truth by Douglas Wood? The dedication in the book reads: "To all who seek truths and who listen to the language of the breezes. (And turtles.)" The wisdom of the Divine can be heard everywhere. Whether you find your connection communing with a sea turtle, feeling the breeze across your face or gazing at the reflection of the a mountain in a lake, know that the Divine is always present in every rock and every smile. The sahasrara card came up at #2. Are you listening?

These final two cards are not part of the spread in the "Seeds of Shakti Oracle Guidebook". I pulled these cards for you to bring an overall picture and final message.

8. FINDING THE GOLD: What is the piece I need to always keep in mind and heart? MULADHARA (Root Chakra)

With all the work you are doing to invite spirit into your life, you may find that you feel disconnected from work or family. Throughout this journey it is important to know how to be in the world. There are several techniques to connect to your root chakra that will help to keep you grounded and stable, including walking barefoot on the earth.

Here is one yogic practice called nasikagra drishti:

Sit comfortably in a meditative posture. Take a few breaths to settle. Gaze at the tip of your nose. If that is challenging, gaze at the point of a finger just beyond the tip of your nose and gradually draw it closer. Say to yourself "moola daara" a few times. Close and rest your eyes. 9. SHADOW: Anything else I'm missing, avoiding or need to pay attention to? MALA This is a lot to take in for one reading and this final card confirms that what you need is a practice - a regular, daily practice. You can keep your practice as short and simple as works for you but do it every single day, preferably at the same time of day and in the same place. Creating a routine will help. The mala, a garland of 108 beads + 1, is a tool used to count repetitions of mantra (sacred sounds). It can however, also be used to count repetitions of an affirmation in your native tongue or repetitions of breath. It is a tool to help keep you focused on your practice.
