New Moon Harmony

April 13, 2018

There is an energetic power, an  intuitiveness and a feeling of being in sync with a greater force when we embrace the lunar cycles. Each month, we are given a gift to plant a seed and enter into a new cycle. I am not an astrologer. If you need a label, call me an intuitive healer – a yogini – or an aspiring one, at least. In the darkness of the new moon, there seems to be a heaviness - quite literally a seriousness to step into action. It is a time to plant some seeds and make a commitment to watering and caring for them. Sometimes, quite miraculously, a flower will grow from a crack in the pavement and that is beautiful when it happens. Those kind of fruits are reminders from the universe that we all have the potential to grow through our challenges. The seeds we plant however, are much more intentional.

These dark evenings around the new moon have a strong feminine energy and can be very challenging emotionally.  It's not just the full moon that drives some of us crazy. In order to live, work, play and be in harmony with the earth's cycles we need to embrace each part of the lunar cycle. By working with, instead of against the tide, life will flow much more easily. (I am reminded of yesterday's blog post when I was looking at the Thunder card in my new deck. The strength and power in the movement of the bison was beautiful. Imagine if you were crazy enough to attempt to move against or through the herd!)

The new moon this month is in Aries. This may have you feeling a bit more determined to not only write down your intentions, but you may also find yourself creating a new moon board or speaking your intentions aloud under the evening sky. If you want the force of the universe behind you, you couldn't pick a better new moon to get the ball rolling! Once you have planted your seed, write down some ideas of how you can care for your intention daily.

Here are some ideas:

• state it aloud when you awake

• do one thing that will create energy behind your intention

• share your intention and ask for help from friends or colleagues

• pay attention to signs and when things come up stop and make a note of it

• revise and edit your intention as you receive input

• place a notebook beside your bed at night

• state your intention silently a few times before you go to sleep

• ask your angels, guides and higher self for help in growing and  bringing your intention to life

• if you awake in the night, take yourself back to your dreams and write down anything that comes up

If following the lunar cycle is not part of your monthly routine, get a moon cycle app for your phone. I use the free version of "Moon" by CDV Concepts.

As your awareness of the lunar cycle grows, so may your need to balance more yang style yoga classes with yin and restorative classes. You may find yourself at the shore more often or spending more time in the bath. Connecting to the sacred feminine through water is a beautiful way celebrate the moon.
