Why a Past Life Reading?
practiceInner work, discovering one's life path or breaking old patterns are a few of the reasons for exploring a past life reading. As many of you have heard me say before, I come to this work from the perspective of healing. More importantly, I believe that if we can recognize the patterns that no longer serve, we are one step closer to finding peace. Learning to step back and view our stories from a wider perspective is a . There are many ways to begin to unravel the attachment to our individual drama and see the stories for what they are. Whatever it is you are working through in this lifetime, may have already manifested in a number of different ways. Until you finally understand what the lesson is, it WILL keep repeating. Unfortunately, in my experience, each version of the story tends to come back more challenging than the one before. If only, we could be awake and aware from a young age! That is why, we need to practice journaling, contemplation, meditation - and yes, even a card reading now and then may help to put us back on the path.
For me, the purpose of a past-life reading, is not to find out if you were a famous historical figure or if you are connected to a royal bloodline, rather, it is to have a look at energy from the past that may help you work through the challenges you are presently facing. Sometimes it's hard to see the trees for the forest, so a card reading is just one approach to clarity. This is not easy work. It takes courage, honesty, vulnerability and a willingness to trust in something greater than the little self. It also requires an openness of heart and mind. It's a commitment really - to be being the best version of yourself that you can be - and being okay with whatever you find along the way.
This is why I work with clients through several modalities because sometimes it takes a few tries to hear, then integrate the messages.
How Do the Cards Work?
Oracle and tarot cards will reflect whatever part of the process/your journey you are ready to shift. They will reveal patterns or issues that you are ready to work through and release. Think of the cards as a physical manifestation of the little bird in your ear, or the seemingly random, yet recurring thoughts that have been on your mind. The cards are energy, as are your thoughts and words. And sometimes, it is easier to listen to the cards than see the lessons manifesting through challenging relationships or experiences.
Decks I Use With Past Life Readings
The Weavers' Oracle: Journey Cards & Travel Guide was created from paintings and mythic tales by Carolyn Hillyer
"in high moors, cold rains and untamed hills. They are inspired by the wild songs of sacred land, the shadowy edges of ancestral memory and a reverence for deep mythologies that exist close to the earth". This deck is so profound that one word or a side glance from a card could bring a sense of inner knowing, bridging gaps in time to move towards clarity, healing and inner peace. Even the most intuitive reader will gain tremendous insight from the guidebook, so I recommend taking your time with both the artwork and the weavings of stories for each card.
The Earth Power Oracle: An Atlas for the Soul by Stacey DeMarco reveals places on planet earth where the veil between this world and a higher plane is thinner, almost palpable. The cards transport you to sacred ground where shifts in frequency may stir a memory, a feeling or vision. Our karma and the patterns we must work through are also connected to the land - to the geographic locations we choose to call home or visit for brief moments in time. So, by adding these cards to a reading, it may help to deepen the needed perspective to move through your present situation.
I selected The Labyrinth Tarot by Luis Royo for its timelessness. The major arcana has an ethereal quality that seems to elude time, space and culture due in part to the sepia tones. When doing a past-life reading, it is important to try and remain unattached to time, culture or gender. Another deck I am tempted to purchase for these readings is Deck of the Bastard by Tarot by Seven.
Past Life Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue and Brian L. Weiss will help to hone in on recurring themes, patterns or karma. The cards include archetypes (orphan, mother, knight), geographical locations (Egypt, Asia, Atlantis), themes and patterns (finances, forgiveness, unrequited love) and other potential connections such as trees, ships or communal living. Together with other oracle and tarot cards, these cards have the potential to evoke and release energy needed to move towards healing.
Similar to the deck above, Caroline Myss' Archetype Cards bring awareness to both the light and shadow side of potential archetypes that are preventing us from living life to its full potential.
The other deck I'd be remiss including here is Rosy Aronson's Wisdom Keepers based on The "Gene Keys" by Richard Rudd. If you are ready for some profound insight and soulful meditation experiences, these cards are a great stepping off into patterns encoded in your DNA. When I find a program, a new study or an experience that reinforces teachings that have already been received in a different form - that is a big resounding YES for me! What Richard teaches in the Gene Keys and what Rosy explores in her cards are what the yogis refer to as karmic patterns. All this embedded in DNA, accessed through meditation, Yoga Nidra or quiet contemplation is accessible to anyone ready to explore.
Take some time to journal about where you are feeling stuck. Write, doodle, draw or paint your feelings, words, ideas or mood. If you've had other readings, reflect on recurring themes. What are the patterns in your life that keep recurring? After taking time to reflect, you may know what you are ready to release and the Past Life Reading will likely be confirmation of what you already are aware. If you feel confused with too many people, events or stories, then entering the reading with the mindset of simplification will help. What does all this boil down to? What am I missing? What have I forgotten? These are some of the questions that will help draw out cards of focus.
If you are ready to book a reading with me or you would like to do this more as a workshop, I am happy to accommodate. Let me know how I can be of service and let's set something up! You can contact me through this web site or book a reading straight away.
